I added flights and my market share did not move
It will not. Share is decided by your fare, your reputation, your marketing and your staff morale against the carriers on the sector — and by nothing else. Flying eight times a day instead of once wins exactly the same percentage.
What the extra flights buy you is capacity: the share you already won is a number of passengers a day, and you cannot carry them without seats. A route at 61% share and one daily flight is turning people away; the same route with four is carrying them. The route card shows what you are spilling.
To move the share itself:
- Fare is the fast lever and the expensive one.
- Marketing and reputation lift every route at once.
- Flying where they live. Pressure is worked out per sector and weighted by how much of a carrier's network touches it. Their hub is where that weight is highest, so a route into somebody's base grinds them down and a route they merely pass near does not.
That last one is slow — about a point a month — and it has a ceiling. A squeezed carrier regrows faster the smaller it gets, so it settles at a size rather than disappearing.
